JR is a Parisian photographer who started life as a graffiti artist and who has maintained an enigmatic anonymity. His work, however, is on an epic scale and combines a love of portraiture with the urban environment.
'The fact that I stay anonymous means I can exhibit wherever I want....no one knows my name so it's easy to travel'.
And travel he does. This image was made in a very tough district of Rio de Janeiro. It features portraits made of local people transferred to the walls of their homes.
